1. About these terms
These terms govern any quote, order, or booking made with translation4life (“we”, “us”), whether through our website, by email or by phone. By sending us a document, confirming a quote, or completing an order, you agree to these terms.
2. Quotes and orders
A quote is valid for 14 days from the date it’s sent, unless stated otherwise. Work begins once you confirm a quote or complete an order and, where payment is required upfront, once payment is received. Fixed-scope packages ordered through /order/ are priced and scoped as described on the relevant product page; where your document exceeds the stated scope, we’ll quote the difference before doing any further work.
3. Prices and payment
All prices shown on the site are in euros and include Estonian VAT at the standard rate of 24%, unless stated otherwise. Payment for online orders is taken through our checkout. Payment for quoted work is agreed individually and stated in your quote. The minimum order value is €25.
4. Delivery
Digital delivery is by email as a PDF and, where applicable, an editable DOCX. Posted hard-copy delivery, where selected, is sent to the address you provide at checkout; delivery times for posted copies are in addition to the digital turnaround estimate. Turnaround estimates begin once we have everything we need from you (a clear, complete source document and, where relevant, payment).
5. Client responsibilities
You’re responsible for providing a legible, complete source document and for telling us about any specific requirement a receiving authority has stated (an exact stamp, a specific wording, a particular format). If a source document turns out to be illegible or materially different from what was originally described, we’ll re-quote before continuing, and you may cancel free of charge at that point.
6. Accuracy, review and corrections
Every job goes through an independent review before delivery. If you find an accuracy, completeness, terminology or formatting error after delivery, tell us within 14 days and we’ll correct it free of charge. See our Refund Policy for what happens if a substantiated error can’t be corrected.
7. Certification and notarisation
A certified translation carries our signed statement of accuracy. Estonia does not appoint sworn translators (the institution was abolished in 2015); where a receiving authority requires notarisation, a notary separately attests our translator’s signature or declaration on the certified translation. We apply the correct mechanism for Estonian and EU standards; we cannot guarantee the individual decision of a specific foreign authority, and we’ll tell you in advance if a stated requirement (a particular stamp or wording) is one we can’t meet.
8. Interpreting bookings
Interpreting sessions have a 2-hour minimum booking. Sessions running beyond the booked duration are billed for the extra time at the standard hourly rate. Cancellation terms are set out in our Refund Policy.
9. Confidentiality and intellectual property
We handle your documents under the confidentiality commitments set out in our Privacy Policy, including an NDA on request before you send anything. You retain all intellectual property rights in your source documents and in the translations we deliver of them; we claim no ownership over your content.
10. Liability
We’re liable for direct losses caused by our own error, to the extent required by the Estonian Law of Obligations Act. We’re not liable for a receiving authority’s individual decision to accept or reject a document, for delays caused by incomplete or illegible source material, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Estonian or EU law.
11. Cancellation and refunds
See our Refund Policy for the full detail. In short: cancel before work starts for a full refund; cancel while work is in progress and we charge pro-rata for the portion completed; once delivered, we offer a free correction for substantiated errors reported within 14 days, or a proportionate refund if a correction isn’t possible.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. Any dispute we can’t resolve directly may be brought before the Estonian Consumer Disputes Committee (Tarbijavaidluste komisjon, part of the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority — TTJA) if you’re a consumer, or before the competent Estonian courts.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
